An experience of a life time

It was my first time in IFFK. A lot of people and of course a lot of movies— why didn’t I come here before?

Starting from the opening ceremony, the festival was unique. The ‘Tholpavakoothu’ and the performances from all over Kerala, were fabulous. Starting from the opening film ‘Laila’s Birthday’ to the award winning film ‘Parque Via’ I could see around 25 films.

Getting acquainted with the movies and its makers from all over the world was the most fascinating experience. The open forums, the entrances to the cinema and even the tea shops outside the theatres were the places where I saw the world renowned film makers talking about the contemporary films and techniques to the crowd.

There wasn’t any discrimination felt for anyone, I guess, as this festival onwards there was online seat reservation. This brought all those stars and the general viewers together.

I didn’t like the signature film for IFFK 2008. I feel that it is substandard and it was better not to have any signature film than to have this piece of garbage.

It’s great that these many pictures are brought for the festival. Still there was hardly any who could see more than 40 films. If they could increase the number of days of the festival, I am sure this vigor won’t go down.

Looking forward to the next festival…
